I Flashed On You

I flashed on you for a second
as your face appeared before my eyes.
It shocked me, making its way by
me like a drive by shooting.
Images of you passed by in still motion,
and then fast, flickering like a candle,
and burning like a flame, but in the end,
your memories made love to me, and I
was left calling your name.

Let me sing my song for you.
It's about an angel who breaks
someone's heart, and angel who
becomes a human, and finds some-
where to land.
Every Sunday night, he sang to her
a melody, though his fingers only
played on strings, and his guitar
was not made of gold.
She never thought about the talent
or the art, his song just grasped
her before she could close her heart.
With others, it had always been so
easy letting go because there had
never been anything left to hang
onto, but it was different with
you because I flashed on you.
I always thought you were human,
I never saw you wearing a halo.
